In 2007, John Roberts sat on Lepe Beach and began writing the original first draft of Where No One Stands Alone into several A6 notebooks. These notebooks were then stored away in the loft of his family home and forgotten about until the lockdown of 2020. As John began sorting through some old paperwork, he rediscovered the old notebooks that he had begun writing in thirteen years before and with a lot of patience, meticulous editing and some creative licence, The Blake Langford Adventures series was created.
